Cradleboard contest a success at 87th annual Pinenut Festival
SCHURZ, Nev. — The 87th annual Walker River Paiute Tribe’s Pinenut Festival from Sept. 14-17 was another huge success this year.
All Walker River Paiute Tribal employees came together and made the whole celebration go off with a bang. We enjoyed seeing everyone who made it and all the new visitors who came to see what all the excitement was about and got to experience our tradition.
We hope everyone enjoyed their time while visiting in Schurz, and to all the vendors who were able to make it, we thank you for your business. To all the singers who shared their songs with us during the Pinenut Blessing, we appreciate and thank you for taking the time to sing for the people and the pinenuts.
We hope to see everyone back next year for the 88th Annual Pinenut Festival.

The phrase “Indian Education” itself invokes generations of federal legislation aimed to assimilate via education. Modern day, the Title VI Indian Education Program administered by the Bureau of Indian Education provides federal funds to various educational institutions of students enrolled in federally recognized tribes.
